Creator amasses 1.3 million followers teaching English online
MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee teacher has amassed over 1.3 million followers on their TikTok account teaching English.
Sarah Roecklein is a Milwaukee Public Schools special education teacher who also runs the account @englishmakesnosense. The account works to help those learning English as a second language and native English speakers alike.
Roecklein started the account in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to teach while schools were shut down.
TikTok named Roecklein to its 2025 “Discover List.” The list is a global showcase of 50 “creators to watch” across five categories: educators, foodies, icons, innovators and originators.
